INSIDE SCOOP - THE DRAFT
Silverbacks fans rejoice! It's time to start thinking about football again. Okay, so Training Camp is still 3 months away, and the first kickoff is yet another 5 months away, we can still talk about the moves in the offseason. And what moves they were! The St. Louis Rams of all teams have made probably some of the best off-season moves including trading Tony Banks, not resigning Ryan McNeil, acquiring Marshall Faulk, and picking up Torry Holt in the NFL draft last week. Hmmm it might be a good idea to pick up some lambs this year! | ![]() |
What does Head Coach and General Manager Richard Walton, (aka Waldo) have to say? "I think there are a lot more possiblities with the St. Louis Rams this year. Although, I can't put all of my stock in a franchise that has lost 100 games within 9 years". So what other players are the Silverbacks looking at? | WR-Ed McCaffrey (DEN)
|
That's a long list considering our needs at quarterback and running back. Although the wide-outs McCaffrey and Terrell Owens had fabulous seasons last year, will they be consistent? Each of the wide receivers are by all accounts the 2nd receivers behind Rod Smith and Jerry Rice respectively.
The only real solid game is the tight end Ben Coates. But with Coates and Napolean Kaufmann picked up last year as free agents, their salaries are still high, meaning the opportunity to pick up new free agents this year will be slim at best. But don't rule out Coach Waldo, "The possibilty of trading up or down is real. I will consider any serious offer. At this point the only player that is untouchable is Ben Coates. Anyone else can be traded for the right offer"
Back to the running game, is Ricky Williams a prime target? Waldo's not talking about that, he won't say yea or nay, but sources tell us that he is not happy that Williams landed in New Orleans. So what about Edgerrin James? Again the lips are sealed, guess we'll find out on draft day.
And about the quarterbacks, how will they be treated? Dan Marino is no youngster anymore, and for the most part he only has one receiver. If the Dolphins can shore up their receiving corps, Marino might just find himself in the Super Bowl, provided of course head coach Jimmy Johnson can make up his mind on who he wants to lead the rushing attack. And Kordell, well we think he may have just had a bad year. I mean superstar quarterbacks have bad years, Troy Aikman, Brett Favre, Joe Montana, have all had mediocre years at one point or another. We shall see. Meanwhile, lets hold off on the tailgate parties for now.

Anacondas Have Lost Their Mind
What has gotten into the Anacondas?
Ye of little playoff experience. This is an actual copy of the email
sent by Anacondas GM Derek Bell:
From: [email protected]<BR>
ANACONDAS WILL DESTROY PITBULLS AND T-DAWGS WILL NEED THE RIGHT HAND OF GOD TO TOUCH THEM
JUST TO WIN FOUR GAMES THIS SEASON. THE EMPIRE WILL FALL. H BOMBS (WELL THE
NAME SPEAKS FOR ITSELF) SILVERBACKS- JUST THROW IN THE TOWEL NOW. DA'
PLAYERS-- WILL GET PLAYED AS USUAL THE SUPERBOWL CHAMP SHOULD CHANGE HIS TEAM NAME TO THE
I THINK NOTS MAD COWS--- HA HA HA HA HA!!! TARANTULAS--
ONLY WIN THIS YEAR WILL BE AGAINST THE SCORPIONS WHO WONT WIN A GAME UNTIL HELL
FREEZE OVER
THIS IS ALL FACT SO IF YOU CANT DEAL WITH IT TURN YOUR SORRY ASS TEAMS OVER TO SOMEONE WHO
WILL MAKE A DIFFRENCE BUT KNOW............
ANACONDAS WILL STILL BE THE SUPERBOWL CHAMPION FOR THE NEXT FIVE YEARS
As you can see from this blasphemous email, the Anacondas are clearly
in the twilight zone. Possibly from being beaten so bad by so many teams. Or
maybe just out of frustration. Whatever the case, Derek's prediction of ever
being a Super Bowl Champion is rather, shall we say, wrong! Much less for the next
five years?!?!?!? That can only be accomplished if he starts his own league
and he is the only team! Cause it ain't gonna happen in this league!
